art
In this art program, scholars learn artistic techniques utilizing traditional mediums such as pencil, paint, and clay.
Through interdisciplinary learning, scholars explore art history by studying works of art and developing skills to really “look” at art. This “looking” is understanding how to employ critical thinking in examining and critiquing art.
Scholars discuss the emotional response(s) the art invokes and then creates their own work of art to artistically demonstrate understanding.
Social Emotional Learning is a strong component of the program. This is especially true when the scholars are asked to critique each other’s work during dedicated classroom critiques.
